Brockville and Area YMCA
Philanthropy
Philanthropy
Philanthropy is fundamental to the Brockville and Area YMCA. As an independent charitable, not for profit organization, we depend on volunteer time and/or financial support from our members, the community at large and the business community in Brockville and Area. Our Mission Statement directs us to be open to all, regardless of circumstance, including a lack of ability to pay full fees.
Through the generosity of our donors, the Brockville and Area YMCA can provide financial assistance to those individuals and families who are willing but unable to afford full fees for programs and services available through their "Y". Yearly, approximately 967 individuals of all ages, including hundreds children and youth, have access to the Brockville and Area YMCA through our Financial Assistance program. No one, absolutely no one, is denied access to their Brockville and Area YMCA due to the inability to pay.
At the Brockville and Area YMCA, we believe that:
Building on these beliefs, our staff, volunteers, participants, and community partners are committed to ensuring that:
We adhere to the letter and spirit of all aspects of confidentiality laws.
Funds raised during our Annual Giving Campaigns are directed to our Financial Assistance program each year, which includes camperships that allow hundreds of children and youth to attend day camps and overnight camps during the school break in the summer months.
Our Annual Giving Campaigns are held during the months of May and June each year. Usually, 7 weeks are chosen as the ‘Campaign’ weeks. During that period of time, a most enthusiastic team of volunteers, seeks financial support throughout the community in order to achieve the goal set out for that specific year. If you would like to be a part of this volunteer team, or would like to make a donation to the campaign, you may contact
Sandra Devaney, Senior Director of Development and Communications at your Brockville and Area YMCA.

Financial Assistance at the Brockville and Area YMCA in 2009
With help from our Financial Assistance programs, 967 individuals of all ages and walks of life, accessed the Brockville and Area YMCA facilities, programs and services, even though they could not afford to pay the full fees. As well, 25 community agencies provided 96 of their clients with this access through partnerships with the YMCA. In addition, hundreds of children attended summer day camps with this assistance. With your donation, you are helping your YMCA continue to provide this assistance and support to hundreds of adults, seniors and youth.
On behalf of the hundreds of individuals of all ages and all walks of life who benefit from this support, we thank our donors, supporters and partners for their commitment to the work our YMCA performs in an effort to build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities.
